Consistency Is King
I’m going to pause the 18-day mini-course for today to celebrate a little.
And what are we celebrating?
Well… today marks 1 full year since I stopped eating sweets, desserts, ice cream, brownies, cookies, donuts, or any other kind of super-sugary after dinner kinds of foods.
ONE. FULL. YEAR.
To be honest… I’m still not over the cravings.
When my kids pull out the Cinnamon Toast Crunch… my insides start screaming… "MINE! MINE! MINE!”
Yes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is on my “no-way-Jose” list. It’s dessert for breakfast. Or in my case, breakfast, second breakfast, elevenzies, afternoon snack, pre-dinner delight, and late-night comfort food bedtime snack.
Someone will probably say to me… “what’s wrong with a little dessert in moderation?”
The problem for me is, it’s a trigger.
I’m a dessert alcoholic.
One whiff, one crumb, one lick, and I can eat my way through a whole pack of Oreos without even thinking about it.
(Whoops! What happened here…? Sorry honey, must have been the kids...)
So, last year I decided it was time for a little self-imposed Dessert-aholic’s Anonymous.
Wow, one year!
That’s a huge milestone for me.
How did I do it?
One day, one hour at a time., sometimes one minute at a time.
I’ve lost 40 pounds, which is really only the start of what I need to lose.
But, it’s a great start. And it’s the kind of thing I really HAD to conquer FIRST!
So, where do you need a little consistency in your life? Maybe in your business? Maybe in your family?
Wherever it is, take a little advice from the Sage of Concord… Ralph Waldo Emerson.
“That which we persist in doing becomes easier, not that the nature of the task has changed, but our ability to do has increased.”
Have a great day!
