The Queen Mother of "know, like, and trust"

One of THE hardest things to do when it comes to getting new leads to buy from you...

...is to get to the point that they actually trust you, like you, and feel like they really know you.

How do you get people who've never met you to that point?

You certainly can't automate the "know, like, and trust factor."

And no A.I. technology will ever be able to replace this kind of human connection.

You probably know by now that I'm a music super-nerd...

...which is why I was re-watching Queen's absolutely masterful performance from Live Aid, 1985.

There's an ENTIRE masterclass in that 21-minute set, which is arguably THE most impressive set of live popular music ever played. (I'll have to save that for a podcast).

It was certainly the most intoxicating I've ever seen! And the Freddie had the crowd eating out of his hand even though he wasn't feeling well and his voice was pretty shot.

By the time the band got to their final song, "We Are the Champions," it was crystal clear that Queen was... indeed... the champion band of the day!

And there's an amazing lesson in the lyrics of this song.

Right from the start, Freddie Mercury, one of THE most infamous and wild rockstars gets his listeners to feel his pain, identify with him, and have a big endearing feeling for him, despite all his craziness.

I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes 
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face
But I've come through

He opens up. He bares his sins in the open. He doesn't hide.

And as he talks about paying his dues, making bad mistakes, and getting sand kicked in face...

...everyone listening remembers when those exact things happened to them.

And then he suddenly bridges the divide between himself and the listener...

"But I've come through... We are the champions, my friend! And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end!"

And now they are bonded!

They have shared trauma.

They're on the same heroic team of SURVIVERS!

That's freakin' GORGEOUS!

And it's an ENORMOUS copywriting lesson in 10 lines of lyrics.

Because if you can really open up, really show your vulnerability, really let your audience it...

...not in any attention-seeking way...

...but as a means of really helping your people see that even though they've struggled, they're not alone...

...you almost don't have to sell at all.

It's all take care of.

Because now it's not a sale.

It's shared victory.

It's a family.

And that's WAY more than a business transaction.

So, how are you going to sing your version of "We Are The Champions" with your audience?

Don't die with your music left inside you.

Your audience needs to hear your music.

So clear your throat, get over that stage fright, and SING!
