The Lazy Entrepreneur's Way To Riches

The Lazy Entrepreneur's Way To Riches.jpg

Most people are too busy building their business to make any sales…

…or to bother figuring out their marketing…

…or do more than send boring, corporate-sounding “blah” emails.

We used to work our faces off trying to figure out how to grow my wife’s business.

But we didn’t start doubling, tripling, quadrupling… and eventually 13x-ing her business until we did less with our marketing—a lot less.

For example, the 18 emails the earned us our trip to Maui… the ones I’ve been sharing for the past 2 weeks… it only took about 10 to 20 minutes to write each one.

I hardly had to think about all the complicated “dos” and “don’ts” of copywriting and marketing.

I just told our stories and made sure to follow my Email Melodrama formula.

Easy peasy!

It’s kinda like my wife, when our 4th baby was born.

She was too busy relaxing and lazying her way through her contractions at home to bother getting to the hospital.

And in fact, we almost didn’t make it.

Which is why baby Claire was very nearly born in the toilet.

All it took was about 15 minutes and 2 pushes… Easy peasy!

This was the 15th of 18 story emails we sent out in our big “Get-Us-To-Maui” sale. And it only went to people who signed up for the special notification list.

It’s quite a juicy story… ok, maybe “juicy” is the wrong word to explain childbirth… haha! Sorry, that was a little graphic...

The point I’m trying to make is… when you get people on a special list, save some special stories JUST for them!

Ok… here’s the story… I call it…

“The Lazy Woman’s Way To Deal With The Bother of Childbirth”

(Shhh! Don’t tell my wife…)

Day #14, email #6 – OPEN CART DAY
(15th of 18 story emails)

2:00pm to special Maui notification list only

Subject: How our newborn nearly drowned in the toilet

Baby #4 decided to come even quicker than Baby #3.

I felt the contraction start and decided it was time to take the kids to the Zoo.

After we walked around for an hour or two, I was feeling the contractions quite a lot.

When they got to about 90 seconds apart, Doug said…"Maybe we should get to the hospital?”

“Yeah, it’s probably about that time,” I said.

I was in no rush to be stuck in a hospital bed.

So we got some dinner. Picked up the babysitter. Got our bags. And finally made it to the hospital.

About a minute after I got my gown on, I had to use the restroom.

I had my earbuds in with my favorite Classical Music tracks keeping me calm and collected.

Doug came to help me to the bed. But I wasn’t going anywhere. I was perfectly comfortable on the throne.

About a minute later, with just the nurse and Doug in the room (the doctor was still on her way) I felt the almighty URGE!

“But, wait, you’re in the bathroom. Let’s get you to the bed.”

Dr. Monica waltzed in right then, super casual…”Yay, time for another Pew baby…”

“Dr. hurry, she wants to push and she won’t get off the toilet,” Doug said.

“Oh my! Let me get some gloves on. Just hold it for one more second.”

“I CAN’T!”  Inadvertent push #1. And the head pops out

“Ok, we don’t want this baby to fall into the toilet, so take a step forward…I’m gonna put down this pad, and then you can push….”

“HURRY!”  Inadvertent push #2…

“Oh, there she is!” Said Dr. Monica, right as baby Claire slipped out, nearly missing the toilet seat.

And then I had that overwhelming letdown and my knees started to buckle…

So Doug held onto me, I was holding the baby with the cord still attached inside, and Dr. Monica was holding onto us all.

We did the "baby-hanging-out-of-me” sideways shuffle and made it over to the bed.

“Well, that was easy!”  Said Dr. Monica. "I guess I’ll see ya later…” She joked.

It was such a rush.

Kinda reminds me of today. We’ve been going nonstop since 6 a.m. with our “Get Us To Maui Sale”.

I don’t have any babies coming this time, but we’re definitely getting a rush of excitement!
